Clerk Biography

Douglas City Clerk Jean E. Neve has served as Clerk since October 2004. The Village became a City six weeks after Jeanie arrived in Douglas. Jeanie was employed by Cascade Charter Township, Kent County, for 11 years serving as Deputy Clerk, Deputy Treasurer and Residential Appraiser. She served two years as Deputy Treasurer for the City of Walker. Jeanie became a Certified Municipal Clerk in 2003, maintains a Level II State Assessors Certification, and has completed the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Institute. Jeanie is a member of the Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks, Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association, International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Association of Public Treasurers United States and Canada, Allegan County Clerks Association, Michigan Public Employers Labor Relations Association and Michigan Assessors Association.

Jeanie and her husband Page make their home in Saugatuck Township. They have one daughter and son-in-law and three grandsons who reside in the Chicago area. In her free time Jeanie enjoys cooking, baking, antiquing and traveling.
